Jelly Beans Pre-school is owned by St Andrews Church.  The Governing Panel comprises church members with the necessary skills and knowledge, who wish to strongly support and strengthen the work of Jelly Beans. The panel also includes the pre-school manager, a staff representative and two parent representatives.  The current Governing Panel are: Nigel MacDonald (director governor/ chairperson), Rosemairi Evison (director governor), Richard Seaton (director governor), Sue Stone (director governor), Jenni Dickinson, Pauline MacDonald,  Catherine Harding (parent governor) and Fiona Franklin (parent governor). The Staff Leadership Team - Claire Medcalf, Rosie Letkey, Georgina Priddle and Vicki Bell (representing staff) also attend the Governing Panel meetings which are held every half term.

History
St Andrews Church has long been the venue for a pre-school since 1970.  There was a gap in the mid 1990s until 2001 when Leap Frog Pre-school was established.  In 2006 its name was changed to Jelly Beans Pre-school in order to avoid confusion with a chain of nurseries also called Leap Frog.  In 2008, St Andrew's church bought Jelly Beans Pre-school and has run it ever since.

Ofsted
Our latest Ofsted report was published at the end of October 2009 with an overall 'Good' rating.
The report can be viewed here: Inspection report published 30/10/2009 or Inspection report published 30/10/2009 as pdf.

The First Days We want your child to feel happy and safe at our pre-school.  To make sure this happens, the staff will work with you to decide on how to help your child to settle in.  Jelly Beans Pre-School has a clear written policy about helping children settle in, which is available at your request.
Parents We recognise that parents are the most important educators in their children's lives.  We welcome the active participation of parents who want to become directly involved in the group's activities and their child's progress, by volunteering to work in the group under mutually agreed and convenient arrangements.
What To Wear In order to feel free to explore and experiment with all kinds of materials, including messy ones, it is best to send children dressed in clothes which are easily washable or not too new.
Additional Needs It is part of our policy to make sure that our provision meets the needs of each child, and so we take account of any special needs a child may have.  Jelly Beans Pre-School fully meets the requirements of the 1993 Education Act and The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.
